Understanding Testosterone Therapy

Although all men understand what testosterone is, many are unsure of what testosterone therapy is or how it can improve their health and wellness.

As testosterone levels decrease, men do not feel as good or strong as they once did — and definitely not as good as they deserve to.

Testosterone therapy involves testing, evaluations, and weekly injections to restore and balance natural testosterone levels, thus increasing physical stamina, maintaining mood, and enhancing sexual wellness.

The Man Zone™ tailors testosterone therapy specifically to each patient.

3 Steps to a Renewed YOU

Step #2: Medical Evaluation

After completing a medical questionnaire and in-depth medical history, you will undergo a blood test that examines testosterone levels, blood count, estrogen levels, and baseline PSA (prostate-specific antigen). This test is performed in our office — there’s no need to go to a lab!

Once we receive your evaluation and determine that your testosterone levels can be improved, you will receive your first treatment on the same day!

Step #3: Weekly Treatments

Your first injection will be given in The Man Zone™ offices under the guidance of our skilled providers. This not only gives you a chance to learn how to inject these shots correctly, but it will also give our providers a chance to examine how you respond to treatment and whether any alterations must be made.

Testosterone therapy is tailored to the patient and their individual needs. Your therapy protocol will be unique to you.

Following this in-office injection, you will be given a prescription for at-home use.

While it is possible to come into our offices for your weekly injections, most men feel comfortable performing these independently at home. Our team is always available to answer any questions or concerns regarding your treatment.

Experience Lasting Improvement

Testosterone therapy starts working immediately following your first treatment, with most patients experiencing significant benefits within one to two weeks.

Once starting testosterone therapy, you must maintain your weekly injections to ensure your levels remain consistent.

Testosterone Therapy FAQ

Are my testosterone levels normal?

Many publications report that a “normal” testosterone range is between 200 and 1000 nanograms (ng) of the hormone per deciliter (nd/dL) of their blood. We at The Man Zone™ believe that this “range” is misleading.

While these numbers are considered “healthy,” they are far too broad. What is normal for a man in his 60s is not normal for a man in his late 20s or 30s, and these numbers should not be evaluated in the same way.

Testosterone therapy at The Man Zone™ isn’t just about getting your levels to a healthy range; it is about tailoring your levels to where you are in life. This includes your age, lifestyle, activity level, and more.

Am I a candidate for testosterone therapy?

You should consider getting evaluated if you struggle with side effects associated with low testosterone. The goal of testosterone therapy is not to create bodybuilders; it is to enhance your quality of life.

How often should my testosterone levels be checked?

All of our testosterone therapy patients are consistently monitored. You will return to The Man Zone™ one month and three months after your first treatment. During these visits, we will repeat the initial testosterone tests to ensure your levels are improving and your blood counts are consistent. While these shots are very safe, some men experience an increase in their red blood count. This is why we perform routine blood tests.

After that, you will check in via an in-office appointment or phone every three to six months and return for a yearly blood test.

How much does testosterone therapy cost in San Diego?

Affordable treatment options are available. You can expect a reasonable monthly fee that includes testosterone shots, monitoring of your blood levels, and our concierge care.

Insurance companies will likely not cover the expense of your testosterone replacement therapy.

Does testosterone therapy affect my sperm count?

We often prescribe hCG to men to maintain their sperm count and prevent other side effects.
